New Books!

March 02, 2013

Woo, woo, happy Friday!!

I thought I'd squeeze in a post tonight and share my latest book purchases. I'm actually still in the middle of reading The Hunger Games, Fifty Shades of Grey and Divergent (lots of unfinished business, I know) but still, I purchase more books. I can't help it :)

Life of Pi by Yann Martel: This is a fantasy adventure novel which was published in 2001. Pi, an Indian boy, survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a boat in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Pi explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. In 2012 it was adapted into a film (and that's how I heard about it and decided to purchase the book). I'm looking forward to reading this book since I heard it's a very cute and interesting story. (text from Wikipedia)

1Q84 by Haruki Murakami: This novel, in Japanese, quickly became a sensation. Murakami spent four years writing this book! 1Q84 is a love story, a mystery, a fantasy, a novel of self-discovery and a dystopia - all of which intrigues me to read it. Check out the plot summary on Wikipedia.

Chanel: An Intimate Life by Lisa Chaney: This is a controversial story of Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel, the twentieth century's most influential designer. Going from poverty to glamour, she helped mold the idea of modern woman. At the time, she was known for her rebellious and progressive style and her numerous liaisons, drug habit and lesbian affairs make this book very interesting to read. I can't wait! (Info from here)
