January's Five Faves

February 01, 2013

I thought I'd make my first "real" post about a few things that I've been luuurving lately. It's a mix of beauty and technology, but that's basically what January has been all about for me! And of course, starting my blog, which I'm super excited about. I have no idea where this blog will go or where it may take me, but I'm currently just concentrating on generating posts and some good content for you all!

So, without further ado, enjoy my "January's Five Faves".

First off, I'm going to continue to rave about a product that has been raved about quite a bit. The "Crème de Rose" smoothing plumping lip balm by Dior. I have been searching high and low for a good lip balm since my lips tend to get dry and cracked and finally I find this baby. The texture is so smooth and nice without being sticky - and it actually MOISTURIZES my lips, get a load of that! This lip balm contains a rare and precious Damask Rose essential oil extract, an anti-aging complex and Shea butter.

Let's continue on with beauty products. I freakin' love these cream eyeshadows by Maybelline. They're officially called "Eyestudio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow" (could there be any more words in that name?!). I bought a few of the colors in the last few months (which I'll share in upcoming makeup collections posts) but this one is my absolute favorite - "On and on Bronze". It applies so nicely and easily just using your finger. It's easy to blend, you can add shadows on top or to your crease - anything really. And it doesn't crease throughout the whole day (haven't tested it for a complete 24 hours since, honestly, who wants to keep their makeup on for so long?). In the USA they have the shade "Bad to the Bronze" but I'm not sure if it's the exact same shade as "On and on Bronze". Definitely try out these shades - totally worth it and affordable too!

So, I work in an office and am on the computer every day. Sometimes, I happen to stumble upon shopping sites, such as Etsy. I am in love with this website. It's a marketplace which connects producers and consumers and their mission is to "reimagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world". I don't really know about that mission statement BUT I do love the concept. You can find such unique things, get items personalized, make special requests, etc. I've made quite a few purchases lately which I'll share in an upcoming post this month. Keep you're eyes peeled!

Now on to the technology part of the post. This month I purchased a Macbook Pro Retina 15" laptop - woo woo! I'm absolutely head over heels for it. I'm still learning all about it, but I really like what I've used so far. It's so quick and the installation process was so simple. In November I purchased an Asus laptop with Windows 8 on it (I'm used to Windows 7 from work) and I wasn't diggin' it AT ALL. Since I have an iPhone and an iPad, I thought it makes sense to go ahead and buy a Macbook. And I'm so happy I did! Here are some specs:

  • Retina display
  • 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
  • 8GB 1600MHz memory
  • 256GB flash storage
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
  • Built-in battery (7 hours)

For Christmas, I received this lovely camera from my parents. It's the Fujifilm x10 camera. Now, I don't know much about photography (yet) but I already know what types of photos I like. For example, photos where your subject is sharp and the background is blurred. I've been using my iPhone camera for the past year and decided I finally need a good camera so that my memories aren't all blurry and bad quality. So, for this blog, I'll be using this camera. I love it so far, we'll see what the future brings! For more information, check out Fujifilm's website: www.fujifilm.com

That's all for today, folks! Thanks for checking in and I'll be back soon with another post :)
