Belgrade, Serbia: Beauty Haul

January 05, 2014

Hi everyone, I'm back!

I've missed this little blog of mine :)

My 10 day vacation was absolutely wonderful and I really enjoyed the time away from the computer and internet. But obviously, I'm glad I'm back to wi-fi and my laptop ;)

We spent Wednesday, December 25th on the road for 12 hours from Switzerland to Bosnia. We spent the next 3 days at my boyfriend's parents' house in Bosnia and after that spent 4 days in the city of Belgrade in Serbia. We then went back to Bosnia for an additional day and then on Friday, January 3rd we headed back to Switzerland.

As you can see, I did a teensy bit of shopping during our stay in Belgrade. The shopping was really awesome, comparing to Switzerland. But, I was hoping it would be cheaper, which it definitely wasn't. So I didn't go crazy but I did buy a couple of things.

I'm going to share some travel photo's in a "Travel Diary" post soon, but now let's get to the beauty items I purchased.

First up, hair products. Since these types of items are actually quite a bit cheaper in Bosnia and Serbia, I decided not to pack any shampoo and to buy some there.
I decided on the Lisse Design Keratin Therapy Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner. These are by the brand Alfaparf Milano which I've never heard of but I hope I can buy these in Switzerland because I really like them so far! They are 0% sulphate, salt and paraben and the formula is enhanced  with keratin and babassu oil. Plus, they smell like vanilla, so that instantly wins me over.
In addition, I decided on the Lisse Design Keratin Therapy Keratin Refill which is a spray and is meant to "refill" your hair with keratin and collagen. I find it's always hard to tell if these types of products work, but we'll see.

I got really excited when I saw a small Macadamia stand at one of the shopping malls we went to. I haven't seen Macadamia products in Switzerland so I checked out the stand and chose the No Tangle Pre-Styler spray which reduces breakage. My hair hasn't been looking to great lately so I think this spray will help my broken ends.
Since I was blowdrying my hair after washing, I wanted to buy a heat protectant and chose the Schwarzkopf Taft Heat Protection spray. I basically just blindly chose one so I think this one should do the deed well enough.

Next up, makeup *emoticon with hearts as eyes*

I didn't buy a whole bunch since makeup was crazy expensive, meaning the same price as in Switzerland. So, I stuck to buying four items from Benefit which is a brand we don't have in Switzerland and I've heard so many good things about it online. I already own the Rockateur blush and the Hoola bronzer which I purchased online but it was fun to see the products in person.
I decided on the infamous Coralista blush and it really is very pretty and suites me well.

I was in the market for a new powder since my Chanel Les Beiges was running out and chose the Hello Flawless custom powder cover-up in the shade Champagne.  I like to apply it with my Real Techniques powder blush and I really like it so far! It doesn't get too shiny on my skin so that's a huge plus.

The next two items are really well-loved and well-known products by Benefit: the POREfessional Pro Balm primer and the Boi-ing concealer in the shade 01 light. The primer seems to be great so far but I'm not totally convinced by the concealer yet. I'm using both of these daily now so we'll see how it works :)

Since we don't have a Sephora in Switzerland I wanted to check out the Sephora-brand products as well. I went for the Sephora Collection Glossy Gloss in the shade 19 Night Out, a "berry wine with iridescent shimmer". I really like this gloss and it smells (and tastes) so sweet and yummy!

Since New Year's Eve was coming up while we were in Belgrade and I didn't have my whole makeup collection with me, I was in need of some sparkle. I picked up the Sephora Collection Glittering Eye Duo in the color 08 Holographic. This is a two-in-one product with eye primer in the top part and holographic loose glitter in the bottom. Perfect for the upcoming festivities. I didn't use the primer but I did use the glitter on top of my eyeshadow on New Year's Eve and I used the liquid that comes in my daily contacts kit to apply the glitter (since I didn't have my MAC Fix+ spray with me). The liquid worked great and, in my humble opinion, the glitter looked fantastic! I naturally had some fallout but not nearly as much as I feared I'd have, so I was happy. (Check out my Instagram for a close-up photo of my eye makeup with this glitter in action.)

Last but not least, how could I go anywhere and not buy any nail polish?!

This is the fantastic duo I wore on my nails (on top of the Nails Inc black polish) on New Year's Eve. You can check out a photo of my nails from that night on my Instagram. I LOVED this combination!
The polish closer to the camera is China Glaze Bat My Eyes and the other is China Glaze Boo-Gie Down. Gorgeous, that is all. I actually didn't know these were from the Halloween Collection 2013 until now that I googled them, but now the nail polish names make much more sense...

The other glitter lacquer I purchased is London Baby by Ciaté. A really pretty glitter polish with a black base. Haven't tried this one out yet but I think it'll be part of my manicure I'm about to do after this post :)

The last two nail polishes I picked out are a bit boring compared to all the glitter going on in this post. I chose the Nails Inc Black Taxi shade for my New Year's Eve mani and it will definitely come in handy since I don't own a black nail polish. And the Essie polish above is the shade Mind Your Mittens which is a dark teal color, so pretty! Going to try this out tonight.

A bottle of the Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat also came home with me since my last bottle ran out and got really thick and I haven't seen any Seche Vite products in Switzerland so I took advantage :)

Hope you enjoyed this beauty haul from Belgrade, Serbia and stay tuned for my travel diary post with a few impressions of Bosnia and Serbia!

    1. Hi Kim! Thanks so much :) I'm actually really liking the primer. I think it's probably the combination of the primer with the hello flawless powder. My skin would get so oily by just sitting in the office all day but I've noticed that my skin is much matter with the primer and powder. I'd definitely recommend checking them out :)
