Lacquer Love: Splash of Grenadine & Jazzy Jubilant by Essie

March 19, 2014

Oh, I love me some Essie polish...

I recently wore this nail polish combo and enjoyed it so much. It's bright, fun and happy!

Splash of Grenadine is a beautiful magenta pink, perfect for spring and summer. One coat of this is definitely too sheer, so I'd recommend applying at least 2 coats, and maybe 3 if you have some time to spare.

Jazzy Jubilant is from the luxeffects line and it's a "chromatic confetti-like glitter" with a clear base. I applied a few coats of this glitter to my ring finger as an accent nail. You definitely have to pack the glitter onto the brush and kind of pat it onto your nail since it slides along with the brush if you apply it with a brushing motion. The glitter is a mix of silver, purple, pink and teal so it'll match a lot of different nail polish shades. You could apply a thin layer of glitter on top of a polish or use it alone for an accent nail.

The brush of Splash of Grenadine isn't rounded at the end like some other Essie polishes (Truth or Flare's brush is pictured above). I do prefer the rounded brushes since they make application near the cuticle even easier, but Splash of Grenadine still applied perfectly with this squared-off brush.

Have you started using fun, summery shades on your tips? Which would you recommend?

Have a great day!

    1. Thanks! Ya it's always hard to pack on the glitter and not having it build up into a goopy glob of polish haha :)

  4. Oh! I wish my nails looked as beautiful as this when I paint them. Mine tend to look like they've been done by a 5 year old. :P Wait, that may be an insult to a 5 year old's abilities! Oops! Have you got a tutorial on how you normally do your mani? :)

    1. Haha! I'm sure they're not so bad. But, I admit, it does take practice. I will definitely show more about how I do my nails. Maybe I'll post a short video or something? It'd definitely be a challenge I'm ready to take on :)

    1. I also love glitter! But it's hard to use glitter polishes in a sophisticated way without looking like a child at the office haha. That's why I really like doing an accent nail so that it doesn't get over the top :)

    1. That's awesome! Do you pair it with any other color or glitter? It's obviously also really pretty on its own :)
