Glitter Christmas Tree Nail Tutorial
December 19, 2013
I'm back with another holiday nail tutorial! Woo woo!
Alright, I'll stop tooting my own horn. But hey, don't we all love nail polish and nail art?
Ya...I thought so :)
So, here's something I came up with last Sunday whilst hanging out at home on a cold wintery day. I was of course inspired by Christmas but I didn't want to use the traditional red and green colors. So I went for a simple "wintery" shade with this light blue.
Hope you like it!

So, here's something I came up with last Sunday whilst hanging out at home on a cold wintery day. I was of course inspired by Christmas but I didn't want to use the traditional red and green colors. So I went for a simple "wintery" shade with this light blue.
Hope you like it!
Here's what you'll need:
light blue nail polish (Ciaté Ferris Wheel)
glitter nail polish (Ciaté Party Shoes)
silver glitter nail polish with big chunky glitter pieces (Essie Set in Stones)
quick dry topcoat (Butter London P.D. Quick Topcoat)
regular ole toothpick
thin brush
nail corrector pen (Essence)
1. Paint all your nails with the light blue shade. I used Ferris Wheel from Ciaté since I recently got it in my Ciaté Mini Mani Month advent calendar. It's a really pretty shade and reminds me of winter and snow. I applied about 3 layers since I still had my french manicure gels on so I needed an extra layer to cover up the white tips.
2. Now for the tedious fun part: Open your chunky silver glitter nail polish and using a toothpick, fish out one piece of glitter at a time.
Then, start arranging the glitter pieces in a cone-like shape on your nail of choice- this is going to be your Christmas tree! Always make the next row of glitter 2 pieces less than the row below. In the photo above I used 6 pieces of glitter as my base, so the next row will be made of 4 pieces, always leaving off the first and last piece.
3. Add a star at the top of your tree. So cute!
4. I of course couldn't leave it at that so I used a thin brush and the glitter nail polish from Ciaté to make two small stars on my ring finger. My brush wasn't the thinnest of brushes so I couldn't be too precise with the stars. But I think they came out okay - if you'd look at them you'd know they're stars....right? Right.

so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
Deletethese are beautiful!!!! I love it! I want to do with sophia! I love the blue- but seriously girl- one piece of glitter at a time?!?! It will take all day!? Enjoy these activities now- I cant see it happening when the kids arrive?!?! (UNLESS OF COURSE THEY ARE 4 AND THEIR FAVORITE THING TO DO IS PAINT NAILS- never mind- it probably will be- genetic).
ReplyDeletehaha! Hollee you seriously crack me up! :) another idea would be to take 2 pieces of tape and form a triangle in the same place as I placed the glitter pieces. And then just fill that triangle shape with a different shade of polish and remove the strips of tape right away. Add the star and you've got yourself a Christmas tree ;) You could use a glitter nail polish for this and basically have the same effect.
Deletehaha oh it'll definitely be genetic, I can see it now!
